Myanmar backs Sino-ASEAN info highway program

Myanmar Prime Minister General Khin Nyunt expressed on Tuesday that his country will support the information highway program of China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and will also support the multi-sectoral cooperation including the information industry between China and Myanmar.

Khin Nyunt made the remarks when meeting with Xi Guohua, visiting deputy minister of Information Industry of China.

As China and Myanmar enjoy the "paukphaw" (fraternal) friendship, cooperation in all sectors shows successful, he said, adding that through frequent exchange of visits of state leaders, the two countries' friendship has continuously strengthened.

He anticipated to pay an official goodwill visit to China soon.

At the meeting, Xi said China wishes to enhance the cooperation in the sector of information industry between the two governments and proposed some specific cooperation concepts including helping Myanmar train up personnel.

Present at the meeting were Myanmar Minister of Telecommunications, Posts and Telegraphs Brigadier-General Thein Zaw, Chinese Ambassador Li Jinjun and Economic and Commercial Counselor Tang Hai.

The Xi-led Chinese information industry delegation comprises ofhigh officials of the ministry and heads of some leading companies.The delegation arrived here on Sunday on a two-day visit to Myanmar after concluding its trip to Thailand and will proceed to Laos and Cambodia.
