US national security advisor to visit ChinaUS National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice will visit China from July 8 to 9, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Tuesday. At a regular press conference, Zhang said the two sides would discuss issues concerning bilateral relations, including the Taiwan issue, and international issues of common concern. The Taiwan issue is the "most sensitive" and "most crucial" issue in Sino-US relations, and the smooth development of bilateral relations depends on whether the issue can be solved properly or not, she said. In other words, the US adherence to the one-China policy and the three joint communiques is the political basis for the healthy development of bilateral relations, Zhang said. She said China expects the United States to abide by the one-China policy and the three Sino-US joint communiques, and oppose "Taiwan independence." |
