China tourists abroad increase the fastest

Eight African countries have been set as tourist destinations for Chinese citizens as the National Tourism Administration signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Embassy of Zambia in China on July 5.

There were totally 20.22 million person-times going abroad, a figure exceeded that of Japan, 17.00 million for the first time, in 2003.

During the first five months in 2004, China's tourist market boomed with 11.17 million person-times traveling abroad, a year-on-year increase of 58.9 percent and 81.6 percent from 2002 and 2003 respectively. China has become a newborn tourist source with the fastest growth in the world.

According to statistics from World Tourism Organization (WTO), Chinese have jumped to the world's top ten tourist consumers overseas.
