Chinese Foreign Ministry sets up department for external security affairs

Chinese Foreign Ministry will readjust its organization and set up a department for external security affairs, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Tuesday at a regular press conference.

She said that the new department is aimed at coping with increasing non-traditional security factors, and studying the changes in the new situation.

The ministry's West Europe department will be renamed Europe Department, mainly as a result of the expansion of the European Union, Zhang said.
