The Chinese National People's Congress is ready to reinforce the relationship with the State Great Hural of Mongolia to contribute to the state-to-state relations, said China's top legislator Tuesday in Beijing.

"The vigorous relationship between the NPC and the State Great Hural has closed the contacts between the legislative bodies between the two countries, and increased mutual understanding and trust of the two peoples," said Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.

Wu told visiting Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy that the parliamentary exchanges has injected new dynamics into the good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust.

Bagabandy, who took the chairmanship of the State Great Hural from 1992 to 1996, said that the legislative bodies between Mongolia and China have maintained close cooperation, and played an important role in furthering the friendship between the two peoples.

He voiced his hope to enhance the cooperation between the two parliaments in the international organizations.

Two other Chinese leaders also met with Bagabandy here Tuesday.

Premier Wen Jiabao told Bagabandy that China and Mongolia are mutually complementary in economy and the two countries should expand resources exploration and infrastructure construction.

The Chinese government will push forward the relations with Mongolia in compliance with the principle of treating neighbors as friends and partners, Wen said.

Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with Bagabandy this morning.

China and Mongolia issued a joint statement late Tuesday, vowing to further the overall diplomatic relations, as well as the cooperation in the international and regional arena.

Bagabandy is paying a six-day state visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese President Hu Jintao. The two heads of state held talks Monday afternoon. The two countries also signed the documents Monday on trade and banking cooperation, as well as a document on border management.

An agreement on visa exemption was signed between Macao Special Administrative Region and Mongolia when Bagabandy visited Macao.

"This visit has achieved great success. I have reached consensus with the Chinese leaders. I believe this visit would push forward the good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust between Mongolia and China," said Bagabandy.
