Pakistani, Afghan troops trade fire on border
font size

The Pakistani and Afghan troops have exchanged "light fire" on the border, local media in Islamabad reported on Wednesday.

The Dawn, Pakistan's top English newspaper, quoted military sources as saying that the fire trading took place near Mohmand Agency, Pakistan's Northwest Frontier province.

No loss of life reported on either side, said the Dawn.

Pakistani troops were returning the "unprovoked firing" from the Afghan side, it added.

It was a minor skirmish on the Pak-Afghan border as compared to the sporadic exchange of gunfire during the past few months.

Sharing an over 2,500 km porous border, the two countries have long charged each other for territory violation.
