Two-digital growth expected for farmer's incomeChinese farmer's income will reach or be very close to a two-digital increase for the second quarter of the year thanks to the central government's policies to boost grain production and farmers income. This is learned from the symposium of local agricultural head officials held in Beijing. The actual rise of farmers' cash income was 9.2 percent for the first quarter, representing a turning point from a 7-year standstill to a similar growth comparable with that of urban residents. A two-digital or approximate two-digital upward momentum is quite expectable for the second quarter. This is attributed to the implementation of central government's supportive policies to grain production and farmers' income. Preliminary assessments show that subsidies for grain, seeds and agri-machinery and tax rebates will put an extra 50 yuan to farms per capita around the country. By People's Daily Online |
