The emblem for 2008 Paralympics delivered by Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) on June 26 was approved by International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on July 8. The emblem will meet the public on July 13 at the celebration evening for the third anniversary of Beijing's successful bidding for the 2008 Olympic Games.
The emblem has been set as the one with the theme "Heaven, Earth and Mankind". IPC holds, the emblem has a very accurate grasp of the spirit and core idea of Paralympic Games, and is the most wonderful one ever.
Philip Craven, president of IPC says that the emblem, through which Chinese cultural element is highlighted, is a characteristic and perfect combination of Chinese culture and the ideas of IPC.
The design stresses the spirit and endurance represented from sports and as well as the value and meaning of human lives. It agrees very much with the idea "spirit contained in sports" IPC advocates.
