Nation's 1st superconductor cable put into useThe first superconductor cable system in China has been put into operation at Puji transformer substation in Kunming city in the country's southwest, CRIENGLISH.com reported Saturday. China has become the third country in the world to install superconductor lines into electricity grids following the United States and Denmark. The special cables use cutting-edge technology that allow electricity to flow with almost zero losses and are three to five times more efficient than the ordinary power lines. Aside from saving a huge amount of power, the cables may increase the safety and reliability of long distance electricity transmission. Source: CRIENGLISH.com |
