The Chinese government has always attached great importance to the fight against corruption and the development of a clean government, Chinese State Councilor Hua Jianmin said Monday.
Hua made the remark during his meeting with Inspector General of the Government of Uganda Jotham Tumwesigye in Zhongnanhai, the headquarters of the Chinese government.
Hua said China has adopted a series of strong measures to stampout corruption. The measures have achieved widely recognized results since China began to open to the outside world 25 years ago.
Hua stressed that China will continue to push forward the anti-corruption work in every way in hopes of guaranteeing social stability and the development of the market economy.
Tumwesigye expressed appreciation for the achievements that China has made in its anti-corruption drive and its efforts to build a clean government. He also expressed the hope that the two countries will continue to step up communication and exchanges, learn from each other and push forward the all-round and extensivedevelopment of bilateral relations.
The Inspectorate of Government of Uganda was established in September 1986. It is dedicated to supervising the institution of anti-corruption work under the Ugandan government.
The supervising organizations of China and Uganda have kept in frequent contact and close cooperation over the years. Tumwesigye led a delegation of the Inspectorate of Government of Uganda to Beijing in 2000.
This time, Tumwesigye visited China at the invitation of the Ministry of Supervision of China. Besides Beijing, he and his entourage will visit Shaanxi Province and Shanghai City.
