Xuzhou to set up early-warning system for geologic hazard

Xuzhou establishes early-warning system for emergency geologic hazard and takes the lead in setting up early-warning and prevention system for geologic hazard among 13 provincial cities in Jiangsu.

It is reported that Xuzhou is one of the places where geologic hazards occur frequently in the province. The common geologic hazards are ground sink and landslip. According to the principal of determining geologic hazard prevention area, the city designated major prevention areas of landslip hazard, which include karst, coal mine stope out, iron mine stope out, yellow sand stope out and soft ground etc., and falling and landslip hazard areas of low mountain and hill in Gulou, Jiawang and Xinyi etc.

It stipulates that the time period from June to September every year and from December to next February is the geologic hazard supervision and prevention period of the whole province. It also requires departments at all levels to set up a group supervision and prevention network and actively carry out inspection and report system for dangerous conditions.
