These three Population Censuses showed that the population of the Tibetan nationality constituting a percentage of 96.6, 94.4 and 95.5 respectively, while that of the Han nationality is 2.93, 4.85 and 3.7 respectively.

On the basis of the results of the fifth Population Census concluded in 2001, the total population of Tibet was 2.6163 million, and that of the Tibetan nationality is 2.4272 million, accounting for 92.2 percent of the total population.
