Tarim Basin to be China's largest desert oilfield
font size

Hade Oilfield in the Tarim Basin in western China's Takla Makan Desert has become the country's largest desert oilfield with annual crude output of over 1.5 million tons.

The oilfield was discovered fifteen years ago but it has complex geological structures and was difficult to open up.

Thanks to the upgrading of technology and the facilities, the oil output has increased year by year.

China now has six desert oilfields with outputs of over one million tons a year.
