Candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyonoof Indonesian Democratic Party said that he was optimistic to win over incumbent President Megawati Soekarnoputri in the second round of presidential elections, a local online service reported Thursday.

Yudhoyono, former coordinating minister for politics and security in Megawati's cabinet, said that he and his partner Jusuf Kalla who was former coordinating minister for social welfare, would fight perseveringly to win the chance.

"With all the perseverance and fights, we are optimistic to be successful in the second round of the election," Yudhoyono was quoted as saying by Detikcom online news service.

He said while focusing on the second round of competition, he would continue to build political communications with other parties to strengthen their cooperation and look for the possibility to make a coalition.

Earlier, Yudhoyono appointed a lobbying team to face the secondround of the election. He himself will lead the team to build a limited coalition. "We'd like to build a limited coalition to ensure that the future government will be effective. Our lobby will not come to parties but to persons," Sofyan Djalil, a close aide to Yudhoyono, has said.
