France's Alstom, Beijing's BSTG to form JV

The French industrial group Alstom has signed an agreement with Beijing's Beizhong Steam Turbine Generator (BSTG) to form a joint company to produce alternators and 600-megawatt turbines.

Alstom is to own 60 percent of the new joint venture, with BSTG holding 40 percent.

Alstom is a world leader in steam turbine technology while BSTG is a major Chinese firm manufacturing steam turbines and alternators.
