China prevents land degradation
font size

China and the World Wide Fund for Nature have together launched a new program to deal with environmental problems.

It will spend 1.5 billion US dollars to reduce poverty, slow soil erosion and rebuild the ecosystem.

The program will first start in the worst hit areas such as Shaanxi, Ningxia, and Xinjiang.

China suffers from serious land erosion. Fourty percent of the land area has deteriorated, mostly in western part of the country.
