China is willing to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and exchanges with Austria to push forward Sino-Austrian relations and the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the European Union, a senior Chinese legislator said in Vienna Friday.
Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, who is here for a visit, made the remarks while meeting with Austrian National Council President Andreas Khol and Federal Council President Anna Haselbach.
Sino-Austrian parliamentary cooperation is an important part ofthe bilateral relations, and has played an active role in promoting such relations, Wang was quoted by a press release from the Chinese delegation.
During the talks, Wang expressed his appreciation for Austria'sstance on the one-China policy.
The Austrian parliamentary leaders praised the great achievements China has made in its economic and social developmentand in democracy.
Khol said his country is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China in the areas of culture, economy and trade.
Haselbach said the strengthening of bilateral ties between Austria and China will contribute to promoting peace and development in the world.
Wang and his NPC delegation arrived here Thursday after windingup a visit to Malta. The four-nation trip has already taken them to the Netherlands and Iceland.
