Pakistan denies any militant training camp in its territory

Pakistan Friday denied any militant training camps in its territory, where Kashmiris were reportedly trained to fight with Indian.

"We do not agree with the statement of Mr. Armitage. No center of any kind of training is present in Pakistan and there is also no need of any clarification," Pakistani Foreign Office Spokesman Masood Khan was quoted by the official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) as saying.

During his visit to India, US Deputy Secretary of State RichardArmitage said that although Pakistan has closed some of the militant training camps, there are still some camps in Pakistan-held Kashmir.

"We believe that statement of Mr. Armitage is not based on facts. The intelligence which he has used in this connection is defective and therefore it is not credible," he said.

Responding to reporters, he said, Pakistan's foreign secretary has told Armitage that there was no activity around the Line of Control and that there did not exist any camp of any kind in Pakistan.

He said, Armitage did not make any request to Pakistan for sending troops to Iraq, adding the US government told Pakistan some time ago that when the UN mission was set up there, a multinational army would be constituted, it did invite Pakistan toparticipate in it.

However, Pakistan has not replied to this invitation so far, and there is no change in Pakistan's stand in this connection, Masood Khan said. Enditem
