    Jenkins family leave Indonesia for Japan

    Family of the Alleged US Army deserter Charles Jenkins left the hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia Sunday for Japan for medical treatment. Jenkins' wife, Hitomi Soga, 45, was a Japanese citizen abducted to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in 1978 and she married Jenkins in 1980. She was repatriated from DPRK nearly in October 2002 after 24 years living in the country. Jenkins, 64, who allegedly deserted his unit 40 years ago, refused to accompany his wife in Japan for fear that he would be extradited to the United States. (Xinhua/AFP Photo)
