China's First cell phone newspaper formally launched

The first cell phone newspaper��"Multimedia Message Edition of China Woman" is officially launched today in the country, thus making it true for cell phone users to read all the contents of the newspaper that day via cell phones. It is a combination of the latest value added service of telecommunication and the traditional media.

According to Lu Xiao, editor-in-chief of China Woman, "Multimedia Message Edition of China Woman" has begun to receive users through China Mobile. In view of the over half-month's test run, the cell phone newspaper has drawn attention from cell phone users, and the subscribers is increasing continually.

As for the development prospect, Tang Dansong, general manager with Beijing Haoyi Time & Space network Co. remarks that, when many people are still delighted in talking about the miracle of short message, the wireless added value service platform technology has developed into a new stage. The short message technology only has a capacity of 70 Chinese characters' information content, while that of the multimedia message technology reaches over 5000 Chinese characters, and it also support various multimedia format information such as characters, images and sounds etc., and is capable of realizing the interaction between users and newspaper editors.
