font size

One US soldier was killed and six others were wounded when a roadside bomb blast hit their patrol early Wednesday north of Baghdad, a US military spokesman said.

The attack took place at 12:23 am (2023 GMT Tuesday) when an improvised explosion device (IED) detonated as a US military passed on a road near Duluiyah, some 90 km north of the capital.

Duluiyah is part of what so-called the Sunni triangle which has been the hotbed of insurgency against the US-led multinational forces in Iraq.
