Sichuan explosion kills millionaire
Police officers cordon off a street section in Ebian county, Sichuan Province after an explosion killed one millionaire entrepreneur and an unidentified man July 21, 2004. Ge Mingjun, general manager of Sichuan Minda Group and also a vice-chairman of the county's people's political consultative conference, was killed in the explosion in his office, another five were injured. Police have confirmed it was a man-made explosion and are still investigating into the case. (newssc photo)

Rail on top of the world
The Qinghai-Tibet railway construction site within the Tibet Autonomous Region has seen 13 kilometres of tracks laid so far. Some 1,110 kilometres of railway line from Golmude in Qinghai Province to Lhasa will be constructed. The project is expected to take six years to complete. The work started in June of 2001.
