Chinese defense minister meets Barbados guestsChinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met with visiting Chief of Staff of Barbados Defense Forces Alvin Quintyne in Beijing on July 21. Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, said that the relationship between China and Barbados has developed smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1977, with bilateral exchanges and cooperation furthered through frequent high-level visits. Cao said the Chinese have actively pushed forward friendly ties between the two armed forces. Cao briefed the guests on China's firm principle stance on the Taiwan issue, and expressed his appreciation for the support from Barbados on China's reunification cause. Quintyne said he hopes to usher a new page of friendly ties between Barbados and China through his current visit, Barbados' first high-level military visit to China. Quintyne also expressed his gratitude for the political and military support from China to Barbados. Quintyne arrived to China on July 19 for a friendly visit as the guest of Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Source: Xinhua |
