US Pacific commander visits China July 22-24

Admiral Thomas Fargo, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, visits China July 22-24 and will meet with senior government and defense leaders in Beijing.

US Embassy in Beijing said in a press release that this trip is an opportunity for Admiral Fargo to personally meet with defense leaders of China.

Admiral Fargo's visit is part of a routine trip through the region, which also includes stops in Guam, Mongolia and Japan. These trips allow Admiral Fargo to meet with senior defense leaders in the region and to discuss security issues of mutual interest.

As the senior commander of U.S. military air, ground and naval forces in the Pacific and Indian ocean areas, Admiral Fargo's responsibilities include oversight of all U.S. military activities.
