Chief of PLA general staff meets Barbados counterpart

Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with visiting Chief of Staff of Barbados Defense Forces Alvin Quintyne Wednesday.

Liang, also member of the Central Military Commission, said Quintyne's visit to China opened a new page in the history of military exchanges between China and Barbados.

Liang expressed his hope of making joint efforts with the Barbados side in the future, so as to increase mutual understanding and friendship and push forward the cooperative ties between the two armed forces.

Liang also briefed the guests on China's military building and China's principal position on the Taiwan issue. He also expressed his appreciation for Barbados' adherence to the One China policy.

Quintyne said Barbados is willing to deepen its friendly ties with China, and expects more cooperation in the future in the military field.

Quintyne also reiterated that the Barbados government will continue to abide by the One China policy on the Taiwan issue.

Quintyne came to China on July 19 for a friendly visit as a guest of Liang Guanglie.
