font size

A nine-member delegation of Pakistani mango exporters led by Shamoon Sadiq, chief executive officer of Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Board, will visit China in August, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported Thursday.

The delegation will visit Beijing and Shanghai and hold meetings with Chinese importers of mangoes. They will also arrange display of Pakistani mangoes at superstores and hotels with the assistance of commercial section of the Pakistani embassy in Beijing.

China has recently given market access to Pakistan mangoes with condition that the mangoes must be treated through Hot Water Dip for one hour at 48 degree Celsius temperature to sterilize fruit fly eggs.

In addition, the mangoes should be packed in 5 kilograms new corrugated boxes clearly labeled indicating area of production, farm name, count and weight in the Chinese language.

Pakistan is the 5th largest producer and the 3rd largest exporter of mango in the world.
