The US military launched an airstrike Friday against a suspected hideout of alleged Al-Qaida operative Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi in the flashpoint town of Fallujah, the US military said in a statement.
The statement said the airstrike was conducted in the city in coordination with the Iraqi interim government without indicating if there were casualties.
The attack was carried out at around 6:33 a.m. (0233 GMT) on 10-12 suspects who were in the courtyard of a house in the southwest part of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad.
"The anti-Iraqi forces were struck while in the courtyard of a house; the house was left intact," the statement said.
Based on multiple sources of intelligence, the attack targeted some terrorists who were known to have ties with Zarqawi, whose group was responsible for a spate of suicide bombings and other terror attacks in the war-torn country.
