| Tibetans enjoy wireless telecom service |

The opening of wireless service in Jieba on July 25 marks the realization of telecommunications in all the 683 towns and villages in Tibet. China Telecom, one of the main telecommunication operators in China, invested 410 million RMB (approximately 50 million US dollars) in 2003 to set up a wireless telecom network in Tibet. With 17,800 households enjoying this wireless service, villagers living in remote areas in Tibet can now talk with friends throughout the world.
