Xu Jialu, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, met the Universal Esperanto Association delegates and foreign diplomats concerned Sunday in Beijing.

The delegates are here attending the 89th Universal Esperanto Congress convened here Sunday. The week-long conference attracted over 2,000 academicians and Esperantists from over 50 countries and regions.

Beijing hosted the 71st conference in 1986.
