Israel fires missiles on Gaza CityIsraeli F-16 warplanes fired a missile on July 25 night at a house in southern Gaza City which had been targeted earlier in the day by Apache helicopters missiles, Palestinian witnesses said. The witnesses said that the empty two-story building was totally destroyed and turned into rubble after it had been targeted twice. They said that a huge explosion was heard while F-16 warplanes flew over the city. The witnesses said that the F-16 warplanes fired one missile at the two-story building that was hit by two missiles earlier on Sunday afternoon in the neighborhood of Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City. Palestinian sources and eyewitnesses said that three Israeli Apache helicopters hovered over the area before firing two rockets against the house. The house was located near Ali Ben Abi-Taleb Mosque in the neighborhood, where late Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, who was assassinated by Israel in March, used to live. Meanwhile, at least five Jewish settlers were injured on Sunday night after Palestinian militants opened mortar shells at the Jewish settlement of Neveh Dekalim west of the southern Gaza town of Khan Yunis, Israel Radio reported. The Radio said that one of the wounded is in serious conditions, adding that the other four are having moderate and light wounds. Palestinian eyewitnesses living in the town said they saw Israeli ambulances and helicopters were evacuating the wounded from the area, adding that they heard several explosions in the settlement. They said that right after the attack by mortar shells, Israeli army tanks stationed around the settlement opened intensive gunfire and had fired several tanks shells at the residential area of KhanYunis. Medical Palestinian sources at Nasser Hospital said that six Palestinians were injured after the Israeli army shelling, adding that two of them had been seriously injured, while the other four are having moderate to light injuries. Also an Israeli undercover unit backed by tanks and jeeps stormed the northern West Bank town of Tulkarem on Sunday night and shot dead six Palestinian militants, eyewitnesses and medics said. The witnesses said the Israeli army undercover unit stormed the Jamal Abdel Nasser neighborhood and killed the six militants, members of al-Aqsa Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah movement. The soldiers had first entered the area disguised as local Palestinian residents, and surprised the militants who were hiding into a house in town, witnesses said. According to the reports, among those killed was Hani Eweida, al-Aqsa Brigades group commander in the northern West Bank area, adding that ambulances were seen carrying bodies and casualties from the area.
