The palace launched a program for primary and secondary students to feel the charm of science during their summer vacation. The program is also aimed to arouse their interest in learning and using sciences.

Famous restaurant serves 115 million roasted ducks
The 115 millionth roasted duck of Quanjude Roast Duck Group comes out at its branch restaurant in Asian Games Village in Beijing, July 26, 2004. The roasting of this duck is for the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Quanjude Roast duck Restaurant which was established in 1864. Quanjude Roast Duck Group is now China's largest chain store group in the trade of Chinese food.

Disaster relief work underway in Yunnan

Floods and mud-rock flows struck Yingjiang County twice, on July 5 and July 20, respectively. The latter disaster left 12 people dead and 48 missing, affecting 70,000 people in 21 towns, and causing a direct economic loss of 157 million RMB (18.9 million US dollars). Now the residents in the disaster-hit areas are making efforts to resume normal life.
