Arafat agrees to intensify reform
font size

Veteran Palestinian legislator Hanan Ashrawi says Yasser Arafat has agreed to speed up the reform drive to end the state of lawlessness in Palestinian territories.

After a 3 hours talk with Arafat, Ashrawi said that Arafat will make an agreement with Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei at the crucial meeting Tuesday about internal turmoil over security appointments and corruption. CRIENGLISH.com reported Tuesday.

Arafat's leadership was challenged this month when gunmen linked to his Fatah movement sparked chaos in Gaza by kidnapping a number of Palestinian officials and foreigners with demands he reform the Palestinian Authority and security forces.
