Embassy guard kills three hostages, commits suicide in Costa Rica
font size

Four people died in the Chilean embassy in Costa Rica, where an armed policeman of the embassy guard service took nine people hostage on Tuesday, Costa Rican Interior Minister Rojelio Vicente Ramos Martinez said right after policemen entered the blocked building of the embassy.

When policemen came into the building, they saw four dead bodies, including the body of the guard who held the hostages, the minister said.

The guard perhaps killed three hostages a few hours after the seizure and then committed suicide, he supposed.

On Tuesday, the 50-year-old man who served as a guard in the embassy for about five years, for reasons unknown so far seized nine people as hostages, including two Chilean diplomats and other members of the personnel.
