    US warship visits Vietnam

    USS Curtis Wilbur DDG54 anchors at a port in Vietnam's central Da Nang city July 28, 2004. The US warship arrived in Da Nagn on Wednesday for a six-day visit. This is the second time that a US warship visited Vietnam since 1975.

    Int'l Beer Festival in Dalian

    The Arc de Triomphe built with beer bottles by the Dutch beer producer Heineken in Dalian, a coast city in northeast China's Liaoning province. The International Beer Festival of Dalian begins on July 29.

    China issues fifth-edition of one-yuan note

    The front of a sample note with a face value of one yuan issued by the People¡¯s Bank of China, the country¡¯s central bank. The fifth edition of the one-yuan note will be issued nationwide staring July 30, 2004. The one-yuan note is olive green, 130 mm by 63 mm. On the front of the note is a likeness of late Chinese Chairman Mao Zedong, while the reverse features the scenery of the West Lake of Hangzhou.
