Taiwan has a trade surplus of US$11.5 billion with the mainland

Statistics from Taiwan's economic departments show that, the total trade volume of Taiwan with the mainland came to US$23.845 billion in the first five months of this year, the export volume was US$17.7 billion, imports was around US$6.15 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of around US$11.56 billion.

It is reported that for the first time the accumulative surplus in May exceeded US$10 billion. Viewed from the trade between Taiwan and the mainland in the first five months of this year, the accumulative surplus has reached nearly US$11.56 billion, while that in the same period of last year was only US$9.28 billion.

According to the statistic from Taiwan's "Ministry of Economy", the Islamd's exports to the mainland was worth US$4.07 billion in May, up by 49.9 percent over the same period of the previous year. The import volume stood at about US$1.44 billion, up 72.1 percent over the same period of the previous year. The total trade volume was US$5.51 billion, increasing by 55.1 percent year on year.
