Russia condemns suicide bombings in Uzbek capital

Russia condemned on July 31 a series of suicide bombings against the US and Israeli embassies and the Uzbek chief prosecutor's office in the country's capital of Tashkent on Friday.

"Moscow resolutely condemns the terrorist acts in Tashkent, which are aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country and sowing fear and uncertainty among the population," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The statement also called on the international community to join forces "to fight without compromise against international terrorism in all its forms and expressions."

Three Uzbek law enforcement officers were killed and eight others were wounded in Friday's terrorist bombing attacks, which took place almost simultaneously.

An Islamic militant group, calling itself the Islamic Holy War Group, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
