font size

Four men and three women were found stabbed to death early Monday morning at two homes in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture,Japan, police said.

Just after they were found dead at around 3:30 a.m., a 47-year-old man, who caused a car accident nearby, was taken into police custody after he told police officers that he had stabbed people with a knife, they said.

The police are now seeking to obtain an arrest warrant for him.

The two homes, which were near each other, belonged to Toshiko Fujiki, 80, and Toshihiko Fujiki, 64, the police said. A few other people were also injured, they said.

The man, believed to be a nephew of Toshiko, is also suspected of setting fire to another home nearby, which has been burned down with no one injured, the police said.

One of Toshiko's family members called the police.

No other details are available.
