Russia exports US$3 billion armaments in the first half of 2004

Russia has exported up to 3 billion US dollars armaments in the first half of this year, the Federal Service for Military-technical Cooperation said on Monday.

If the trend persists till the end of this year, the planned annual military export target will be fulfilled, the Itar-Tass News Agency cited a spokesman of the service as saying.

But the spokesman did not reveal the goal of arms export in 2004. He said the level would be the same as that of last year, which reports here said registered a record high of 14.6 billion dollars in the arms sales.

Russia's arms export dynamics remain stable in the past years and the orders for Russian armaments have accumulated to 14.6 billion dollars, the service said.
