The US-based Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS), which is ranked 87th on the Fortune 500, announced Tuesday that it would establish its headquarters for China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Shanghai.
"China's mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan plus ROK are regarded as a strategic growth region of the company," said Michael Jordan, Chairman and CEO of EDS.
With new headquarters, EDS is going to invest more resources to capitalize the burgeoning market in China and to introduce state-of-the-art information services and technologies to its client in China, said Jordan.
EDS also revealed that it has begun cooperation with Chinese domestic company Wellhope to speed up its localization.
EDS began business in China in 1992. It established offices in Beijing and Shanghai and a branch company in Hong Kong. Its revenue reached 20 billion US dollars in 2003.
