Zidane undecided on permanence in France nat'l team

French midfielder Zinedine Zidane said he needs time to think about his international future, after meeting Wednesday here with the new coach of the French national soccer team, Raymond Domenech.

Domenech told the former national team captain that he wishes him to become "the relay for the new generation," but if the successor of Jacques Santini expected a quick reply, certainly ended his breakfast with disappointment.

Zidane said: "I will take one week or two before announcing what my future with the French national team will be."

The Real Madrid star said he felt he was obliged to inform Domenech of his decision by September 4, the date of France's first World Cup qualifier against Israel in Paris.

In making a call on Zidane to accept the role of a field marshal for the young troops, Domenech insisted he does not want "put Zidane under any sort of pressure, but let him be and take a decision by himself."

Whatever his decision, Zidane certainly will not be ready for the friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 12.
