Chinese Women's Football to "try for the best"
font size

Chinese women's soccer team would try their best in the upcoming Athens Games, head coach Zhang Haitao said Friday in Athens.

Making his Olympic debut in Athens, the 34-year old Zhang said "four members of our team have participated in previous Olympic Games and this may prove useful for me and my team."

On China's rivals, Zhang said, "I think that the United States American will be the toughest rival. Germany is also a hard competitor and they will be the first teams we have to face. China will try for the best."

Zhang expressed his satisfaction with the preparations in Athens.

"I visited the Olympic Village when came here for the draw. It was under construction, but it seemed that it would be perfect. Now everyone coming to the Olympic Village expresses a very positive perspective."

China left immediately for Patras, where in their first match (11 August) they will face Germany.
