Philippine police confirmed Sunday that the two foreigners kidnapped Saturday night in a village near Cavite, northern Philippines, are from China.

A reliable police source in Cavite told Xinhua that three Chinese were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen when approaching a village near Cavite in a jeep. One of them, whom police named as Paterson Ngo, escaped by jumping from the vehicle. He was rescued by police and has stayed in police custody since, after one of hisemployees called police.

Police source said that they were unable to get cooperation from the family of the certain Mr. Ngo, despite repeated efforts to "coordinate with them."

"We cannot get concrete information about the incident," said the police source, adding that they could not even establish the relations between the three men, although all of them are named "Ngo."

Police source said that they could not establish the nature of their businesses in the Philippines, either.

The source said Paterson Ngo is now under the custody of the police anti-crime emergency force responsible for further investigation.
