Chinese women footballers are preparing for the opening match to be held against Germany, Zhang Haitao, head coach for the Chinese squad, said in Patras on August 8.

Zhang said that his team, which arrived in Athens Friday, have undergone four training sessions in Patras, where the opening match is to be held.

The 34-year old head coach said that his players are in form, and have got accustomed to the weather in the seaside city and are waiting for the coming match.

The Chinese coach said upon arriving in Athens that his team, which failed to edge into the semi-final in the 2000 Sydney Games and the 2003 women's World Cup, "would try its best" at the Athens Games.
