Vice-Premier calls for further development of western region
font size

The strategy of developing the country's western region should be further implemented, said Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju in his study tour of the northwestern Shaanxi Province from Aug. 6 to 9.

"China's current economic situation is good, and the macro-control policy has been effective, with unhealthy and instable factors restrained," said Huang, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

"Developing a market economy under socialist conditions is still new for us," he said, stressing adherence to the scientific concept of development and further reform and opening-up.

He called on local officials to pay more attention to agriculture, science and education, medical services, ecological protection and infrastructure construction.
