Daihatsu's small van enjoys large market in Indonesia

The months-old, small van Xenia manufactured by Japanese auto-maker Daihatsu enjoyed soaring demands in Indonesia, with 13,000 units already delivered and 16,000 more in indentation, an economic daily reported Monday.

Launched last December, Xenia has got orders for some 29,000 units until July and the company has increased output capacity to 6,000 units per month since April, faster that the original plan of June, reported Bisnis Indonesia.

The model is jointly produced by Daihatsu and Toyota Motor Corp,with the latter launching similar model carrying bigger engine.

The 1,000 cc engine Xenia is priced at around 8,500 dollars perunit.
