Chinese Olympic organizers all praise for Athens

Liu Jingmin, executive vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games, on Thursday spoke high of the Athens counterparts in their preparation for the Olympics Games.

"My first impression after coming to Athens is that it has been ready for the Olympic Games," Liu told reporters at an press conference.

"All the venues have been completed according the schedule and many of the stadiums are first-class," Liu said.

"Athens has fully taken the opportunity of hosting the Olympics to improve their infrastructure," he said.

Liu said he was also impressed with Athens' great efforts in strengthening the security for the Olympics.

"In a word, Athens has been ready for the Games and the opening of tomorrow's grand opening ceremony."

He added, "We all think people in Greece and Athens, including the volunteers, are all very friendly."

I will express my congratulations to the Athens organizers for their great achievements. And I wish the Athens Olympics a great success." Liu said.
