Georgia: No large-scale conflict

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili says neither the leadership of the country nor its people need a large-scale conflict.

Saakashvili stressed this in Tbilisi during a press conference after meeting with visiting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan, according to a report by China Radio International. 

He emphasizes Georgia is a country, and not a territory, and that it has the ability to defend its own national interests.

The Georgian president issued orders to ensure the withdrawal of armed forces from South Ossetia to maintain peace in the volatile region with the help of UN Peacekeeping Forces.
