Failure helps make success: Sun Wen
font size

Chinese women's soccer team has given their fans a heavy blow with a 8-0 loss to Germany in its openning match in Athens, but to Sun Wen, former captain of the team, the failure will help make success.

Sun, who led the Chinese team to finish second at the World Cup in 1999, said that the Chinese girls should take a normal approach to the failure, although the goal margin has been a shock to all.

Sun, who was regarded as one of the greatest women players in the world, said it was reasonable that Chinese girls lost to their German rivals, who are on their peak form after winning the World Cup last year.

China will meet Mexico in the next match Saturday.
