Negotiation on S. Ossetia dispute urged

The Georgian government has urged negotiations on South Ossetia issues between the separatist leader and a Russian delegate.

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvaniya says he has called for top-level talks, appealing for the pull out of any military personnel except peacekeepers and increasing the number of international observers.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has discussed the South Ossetia situation with his US counterpart George W. Bush, reported Friday's CRI online.

Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Loshchinin urged the Joint Control Commission for settling the conflict to hold an emergency meeting on the issue.

The commission comprises representatives from Georgia, South Ossetia, Russia and the Russian province of North Ossetia.

Three people have been killed and several others wounded in a shelling in Georgia's separatist region of South Ossetia.
