Chinese Du Li won the women's 10m air rifle gold medal with a score of 502 points at the Olympic Games Saturday in Athens. This medal also is the first medal for Athens Olympic Games. Deng Xiaoping Street in Russia
Some diplomats from Chinese Embassy to Russia have photos taken in "Deng Xiaoping Street" in Slavinoin, over 50 kilometers north of Moscow, Aug. 12, 2004. The diplomats came here Wednesday to visit "Deng Xiaoping Street" and cherish the memory of the achievements obtained by Deng. In the late 1980s, Research and Technology Complex "Eye Microsurgery", founded by the late famous ophthalmologist Svyatoslav Fyodorov, built a villa community in Slavinoin. On May 5, 1997, at Fyodorov's suggestions, a 700-meter street in the community was named "Deng Xiaoping Street" to commemorate the late Chinese leader.

US troops and Iraqi security forces backed by warplanes and helicopters on Thursday launched a major assault on the Mehdi Army, followers of the radical Shiite leader and cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr, in the holy city of Najaf. At least five citizens were killed and six Sadr followers wounded during the fighting.
